I know. It's April 16. Practically a whole month after St. Patrick's Day. But, even though the shamrocks and rainbows are already packed up in the Attic, I wanted to display a bit of inspiration from the man himself, the real St. Patrick.
I didn't know much about the guy, but at the suggestion of one of my Perspectives teachers, we recently watched a movie about his life. Found it on Netflix. It's called St. Patrick, the Irish Legend. In my opinion, it's a 92 minutes well spent. Sure, the acting is over dramatic and the graphics/special effects are somewhat laughable. But the story-the life and testimony of St. Patrick- completely inspiring. His faith, his obedience, his hunger to see Ireland know Christ was refreshing and challenging. If you have a chance this weekend, check out the movie and leave a comment with your opinions. I'd love to hear them.
Otherwise, take a look at this canvas I created. I'm using a Prayer written by St. Patrick.
I bind to myself today...
God's Power to guide me,
God's Might to uphold me,
God's Wisdom to teach me,
God's Eye to watch over me,
God's Ear to hear me,
God's Word to give me speech,
God's Hand to guide me,
God's Way to lie before me,
God's Shield to shelter me,
God's Host to secure me...
God's Power to guide me,
God's Might to uphold me,
God's Wisdom to teach me,
God's Eye to watch over me,
God's Ear to hear me,
God's Word to give me speech,
God's Hand to guide me,
God's Way to lie before me,
God's Shield to shelter me,
God's Host to secure me...
I thought the words were beautiful and compelling, so I created this piece. There are no shamrocks or anything 'St. Patrick's Day-ish' about it. Just the words of a man who lived in surrender and was used in powerful ways.
Enjoy.

Oh my, this is so beautiful. As a mother of 4--none from Ethiopia--I wasn't thinking you'd make things I'd be particularly drawn to...but this is amazing. Simply love it!
