I've studied several different languages over the years, and I'll admit, when I first saw Amharic and I was completely overwhelmed and intimidated by this ancient language. The characters were so different and foreign. Thankfully, I had good instruction and a good tutor and managed to get a decent handle on it during our year and a half long language study.
